These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising from the provision of services provided by Lawrence & Co Psychology shall be resolved through negotiation and, if necessary, through the appropriate legal channels in Queensland. By engaging in services provided by Lawrence & Co Psychology, clients acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions and agree to abide by the guidelines outlined herein.

These terms and conditions govern the use of www.lawrenceandco.com.au. This website is owned and operated by Lawrence & Co Psychology. By using or accessing this website, you indicate you have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to abide by them at all times.

Scope of Services
The services provided by Lawrence & Co Psychology are intended for the purpose of providing psychological assessment, therapy, and mental health support. These services may include but are not limited to individual therapy, couples counselling, family therapy, psychological assessments, and group therapy programs utilising evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and other recognised psychological interventions. These services are delivered to support mental health and wellbeing but do not constitute medical treatment or psychiatric diagnosis requiring medication management.

Client Eligibility
Clients seeking services from Lawrence & Co Psychology must provide accurate and truthful information regarding their mental health history, current symptoms, medications, and any pre-existing conditions. Clients are encouraged to inform their general practitioner of their engagement in psychological services. For clients under 18 years of age, parental or guardian consent is required prior to commencement of services. Clients presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms, active psychosis, or immediate risk of harm may require medical intervention prior to psychological therapy and Lawrence & Co Psychology reserves the right to refer clients to appropriate medical services or decline treatment when clinically indicated.

Assessment and Consent
Prior to commencing therapy at Lawrence & Co Psychology, clients are required to undergo an initial assessment conducted by a registered psychologist to evaluate their presenting concerns and treatment needs. Clients must provide informed consent for participation in psychological services, acknowledging the nature of therapy, potential benefits, risks, and limitations. Clients must disclose all relevant mental health history, current medications, and other treating practitioners. Failure to provide accurate and complete information may result in termination of services and clients may not receive financial reimbursement.

Confidentiality
Lawrence & Co Psychology maintains strict confidentiality regarding all client information disclosed during sessions in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) and applicable privacy laws in Queensland, Australia. Client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics, except where legally required to disclose information or when there is serious and imminent risk of harm to the client or others, or when disclosure is required by court order or legislation.

Payment and Cancellation Policy
Clients are responsible for payment of fees associated with psychological services provided by Lawrence & Co Psychology, as outlined in the agreed-upon fee schedule. Payment is due at the time of each session unless alternative arrangements have been made. Medicare rebates may be available with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your general practitioner. Cancellations or rescheduling requests require 24 hours notice. Full session fees apply for cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice or for missed appointments without prior notification.

Professional Boundaries
Lawrence & Co Psychology adheres to strict professional boundaries during all sessions, maintaining therapeutic relationships based on the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and professional standards. All interactions remain within the therapeutic context and dual relationships are avoided. Any inappropriate behaviour or breach of professional boundaries by clients may result in termination of services and clients may not receive financial reimbursement.

Limitation of Liability
While Lawrence & Co Psychology provides services in accordance with professional standards and evidence-based practice, individual responses to psychological therapy may vary and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Lawrence & Co Psychology shall not be liable for any adverse effects resulting from the client's participation in therapy, provided services have been delivered in accordance with professional standards and ethical guidelines.

Lawrence & Co Psychology, its employees, directors and affiliates will not be liable for any actions, claims, losses, damages, liabilities or expenses including legal fees that may arise out of use of psychological services, this website, or violation of these terms and conditions, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
